Family is important. Spiritual Fathers that are intentional about passing things onto generations are few and far between. We had the privledge of having these 3 fathers join us for dinner last night and breakfast this morning.
Paul, Hubert and Stan (they're brothers) are Wendi's cousins, believe it or not. Coming from Utah, they are traveling the west coast to visit family. My family really did not know them. In the past, we met them once or twice but only to say hello. They are from Wendi's mom's side of the family.
From the moment they stepped into our house you can tell they wanted to love us and impart. I noticed that they all had a passion for family, our tribe, and overflow of life lessons in the Lord. We were all, especially my kids, impacted considerably in such a short time.
An inheritance is what you leave for someone, a legacy is what you leave in someone. They came, visited and left rich deposits in us.
Here are some things that I witnessed.
-They had their own history in God
-They deposited Biblical truth, naturally and consistantly.
-They expressed a passion for God's greatness coming to my children's generation
-They are using their resources and wisdom to shape generations.
-They were rich in the Word.
-They were sincere.
-They truely believed that the younger generation can make a difference.
Here are some walk away thoughts that I have as a result of their coming.
-You can impact, not merely impress, people in a short amount of time.
-People are hungry to know what you have learned and your life lessons in God
-Our kids cannot have enough spiritual fathers who geniunly believe in them.
-You can be in your sixties and yet have a profound affect on generations after you.
-To be concerned about the generations coming behind you. Prepare and equip them as much as possible.
-Spiritual fathers take the spiritulal atmosphere in a room up to a whole new level.
I rarely blog about a visit from family but this one was worth noting!
Rich. Impacting. Warm. Sincere. Honest. Visionary. Concerned. Godly.
Well, this marks the first day Jordan got behind the wheel of our car and is learning how to drive. We are a little late getting him there, he is almost seventeen.
He was nervous, but once he got rolling (literally), he felt a lot more comfortable. He did really good.
Most of the time when you do something new it can be a little bit nerve-racking. But once you do it, it is usually not as bad as you first imagined.
This is true in moving out in the Gifts of the Spirit (word of knowledge or prophetic ministry), often we are nervous to step out, but once we do it, we sense that it was not as hard as we first imagined.
I would encourage you to stretch yourself and try something new!
How do you feel when you step out and do new things?
Went over to Andrews house and had some fun looking at Pat's gun collection and pulling out the pellet rifle and hand gun. I put a picture of the target to let everyone know that we all shot the target (me, Jordan, Andrew and Pat) and I came closest to the bullseye. Not bad.
I think I was given grace so I would not be discouraged. I have to admit, it was fun.
Jordan has been doing a lot of this lately.
I am remnded how important it is to follow your passion. Many have interests but it is better to know what your passionate about and give yourself to it. I believe that where your anointing is, you literally gain strength as you do it. There is fuel in your anointing as He anoints you!
We are proud of what God is doing in Jordan and all our kids for that matter (more to come later).
I encourage you to find your passion and give yourself to your strengths!
