2Cor. 5:20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
In a previous blog I wrote about our identity in the Kingdom of God as Ambassadors. It reminds me of the old Assemblies of God song “we are Christ’s Ambassadors”. Anyway, people do not often think that an Ambassador is a huge part as their identity in Christ. It is.
There are significant parallels with what an Ambassador does on earth and our identity as one in the Kingdom of God.
A simple job description of an Ambassador is one who is a diplomatic official of the highest rank representing one government to another. He lives in a foreign country but the land he is on is owned by his government.
Biblically, an Ambassadors number one priority is to bring others back into friendship and communion with God. We are to see others be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.
Here are some interesting things about what Ambassadors do. All of these have Kingdom parallels.
- An Ambassador does not represent a constituency of people nor a political party. He represents and entire nation. When you meet an Ambassador, you meet a nation.
- An Ambassador is committed to his governments interest, not his own. He is appointed to represent a President or King.
- An Ambassador never gives his personal opinion. On things pertaining to his government he says, “My governments position is....”
- An Ambassador personifies the principles, values and freedoms that his government represents. He is an example.
- All the Ambassadors needs are provided for by the government he is representing. He is completely furnished for His role. He never has to worry.
The church is getting revelation on who she is. Begin to understand and live out your role as Heavens Ambassador! It’s part of who your are.
