This portion of scripture is so rich in truth. I can write forever....huh, but I won't :-) I am pulling verses and adding a quick comment.
Ex. 32:33 The LORD replied to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book.
Our names are written in the book of life, God puts them there. If people refuse to come to Christ and die in there sins, He is forced to blot them out. Future study here.
Ex. 33:7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the LORD would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp.
The "tent of meeting" is a little picture of the Prayer Room in our House of Prayer. A set place to inquire of the Lord.
Ex. 33:8-11 8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the LORD spoke with Moses. 10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to his tent. 11The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
This has always been in God's heart. Face to face friendship with the Lord. I love Joshua...because the pillar of the cloud of God's presence came to the entrance of the tent of meeting. Even though Moses returned to camp, Joshua didn't. Once you are consumed by God's presence in the cloud of His glory, it is hard to go back! He is kinda like an Anna.
Exodus 33:13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
Friendship with God is hungry to know His ways not just his works. Teach me...so I may know you. The result is favor!
Ex. 33:14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
His Presence (the Holy Spirit) now is in us and leads us and we find rest as we do His work!
Ex. 33:15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
All or nothing with Moses. "Your Presence or nothing!" We are distinguished by the Presence! It should be noticeable to the people we encounter. Especially the enemy.
Ex. 33:17-18
17 And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” 18 Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” Friendship and Favor get results. Boldness for more increases!
